Sox, Pats both lose by more than a touchdown
The Sox got their tails handed to them Thursday night and another pitcher went down after being hit. Tim Wakefield battled into the 5th, only allowing 1 run, before he got hit in the right ankle on a comebacker by Casey Kotchman. Mike Myers came on and proceeded to give up a three run home run to Juan Rivera. Rivera would hit another 3 run shot later in the game as they Angels crushed the Sox 13-4...Wakefield was taken to the hospital for x-rays, which were negative. It is unknown if he will miss his next start...The loss drops the sox to 4 up on the Yankoffs who had the night off...
Rivera had 6 RBI...
In Foxboro, the Pats lost their pre-season game to the Saints, 37-27 after falling apart in the end. The 1st unit offense played pretty well, although Tom Brady was picked off on his 1st throw. New receiver, and LT favorite, Tim Dwight caught a deep ball from Brady on the next drive that let to a touchdown. Tim Dwight led Patriots pass catchers with 3 grabs and 69 yards. Corey Dillon sat out, as did Mike Vrabel, who had to come out of last week's game with an injury.
The Pats defensive 1st team did not play well against the run, giving up over 100 yards in the 1st half. The hometown fans did get to cheer on Doug Flutie who came in to relieve Brady, and handed the ball off to Kyle Eclek for a 3-yard-TD run. On the next Pats drive, Flutie connected with Dwight for 12 yards then hit Jason Anderson for a 29-yard-TD pass. Matt Cassel came in for Flutie and looked more like a rookie after last weeks performance. Next week the Pats head to Green Bay to take on the Packers...
Good thing your Uncle Buck didn't stay up for the whole Red Sox game...Look how rested I am!
Those aren't pillows!!!
