Superman! Big Papi saves the day again

With the ship sinking fast Big Papi David Ortiz continued the greatest season by a DH in the history of baseball, launching a solo home run to tie the Blue Jays at 4 in the 8th, then followed that up with the winning base hit in the 9th, to keep the Red Sox one game behind the Yankoffs going into this weekend's do-or-die series.

The Sox trailed by 3 in the 6th when Manny Ramirez crushed a ball to the opposite field for the 2 run home run. Ramirez has 432 homers, passing Cal Ripken for sole possession of 34th place.

The Yankoffs beat Baltimore 8-4 Friday night for their 15th win in 18 games, while the Indians beat Tampa Bay 6-0. The Red Sox are tied with the Indians for the Wild Card, meaning if both teams take 2 of 3 this weekend they will finish in a 3 way tie with the Yankoffs for the Wild Card. The Sox and Yankoffs would play a one game playoff for the East at the "Giant Bedpan" and the lose would face Cleveland for the WC.

After Thursday night's dramatics, Warner Brothers has recast next summer's film "Superman Returns".
