Devil Ray disarray

The Tampa Bay Devil Rays announced Thursday that New York investor Stuart Sternberg has taken control of the franchise from founding owner Vince Naimoli, promising better days ahead for a franchise that's finished last in seven of its eight seasons. They recently fired Lou Piniella and have issued a temporary logo to the media through a PR firm (above). Sternberg's first order of business was to fire general manager Chuck LaMar, who had been with the franchise since its inception. Assistant GM Scott Proefrock and player personnel director Cam Bonifay also were dismissed.
