Rising Son?

Well it looks like your Uncle Buck will have a few months to learn how to say Daisuke Matsuzaka as the Red Sox have won the negotiating rights with the 26-year-old right-handed pitcher from Japan. Now so far the Sox have only landed a deal to try and work out a deal, and if any team could screw this up it would be the Red Sox, but it looks like the Sox are about to acquire a top of the rotation starter who could help get them back to the top.

(Above: Matsuzaka strikes out 14 in a game last August) Matsuzaka comes from the Seibu Lions of Japan's Pacific League who made the official announcement that they had accepted the high bid for their prized pitcher.

(Above: Matsuzaka mows down the Cuban team during the WBC finals) The Sox offer of 51.1 million dollars blew away the expected market of around 25 million. Most believe the Sox will make that money back and turn quite a profit on sales of the team and its merchandise to Japanese fans.

"We're very pleased and excited. We've long admired Mr. Matsuzaka," Boston general manager Theo Epstein said. "Matsuzaka has a real talent. He would be a great fit with the Red Sox organization. We're excited to have won this part of the process. We're hopeful we can reach an agreement."

"We'll congratulate the winner and move on," New York Yankees GM Brian Cashman said Tuesday afternoon.
`
Cup: "Well hey there Brian...Lovely weather we're having..."

Romeo: (Too bad)
