The kid is alright

Red Sox rookie lefty Jon Lester threw a one hitter against the Kansas Sorry Royals in the Sox 1-0 win last night at Fenway Park.

Jonathan Papelbon made it a 1-2-3 9th for his 28th save in 31 chances this year.

Red Sox fans gave captain (if you didn't already notice the 'C' on his chest) Jason Varitek a standing ovation for over a minute at the top of the fifth inning for becoming the all-time leader in games caught in Red Sox history with 991 games, passing Carlton Fisk...And that's all your Uncle Buck has to say about last night's game. When you beat the worst team in baseball 1-0 you're lucky you get that much.

In the Bronx the Yankoffs won again after a Melky Cabrera walk of home run in the 11th against Seattle. The win keeps the Yankoffs 1/2 back and tied in the loss column with the Red Sox.

"Hey, hey, hey not so fast E-Rod..."

E-Rod must have forgotten that he failed to come thru in the clutch two more times last night, including one strike out. He started the game on the bench and his replacement at third, Nick Green, went 3-for-3 with two doubles. You know the Yankoffs may be winning, but at least watching E-Rod screw up and being continually booed by Yankoff fans makes it easier to take. ESPN Radio actually said yesterday that he needs to leave the Yankoffs, thankfully that ain't gonna happen...
