A's kicking
In typical WBZ Sports Final fashion Bob Lobel brought out the "Panic Button" during last night's snow. Sorry Bob, we're not there yet. If the Red Sox drop two or more of the next 3 against the Kansas Sorry Royals then maybe you should warm it up...Maybe. Over the weekend, after a disappointing loss Thursday because of a Mark Loretta error, the Sox dropped two more games to the Oakland A's and are now 6-8 since winning 12 in a row.
Being outscored 28-15 in the 4 games is bad, but subtract the 7-0 Red Sox victory on Saturday when Curt Schilling had one of his best games of the year, and the Sox were outscored 28-8. This was not the high powered Yankoffs or White Sox, but the A's who don't have a .300 hitter.
Your Uncle Buck's too hot to talk about this any more, so here's what the Globe said:
So, as the Red Sox' bats have fallen into a slumber and their fifth-starter auditions continue, Oakland leaves town with a few more defensive gems -- including two by old friend Jay Payton, who stole hits in the fourth inning from David Ortiz on a slide toward the Pesky Pole and in the fifth inning from Coco Crisp with a running, jumping grab -- and a few more wins. Three of four, to be exact.
Is there such a thing as a "Must Sweep Series?" There may be this week as the Sox have to take all 3 from the lowly Royals. Kansas Sorry is 32-59, but still had two All-Stars...Tim Wakefield gets the start tonight, despite the bad back...KC goes with Luke Hudson who has wins over St. Louis and Toronto and an ERA near 6. As a bonus Will Ferrell is throwing out the 1st pitch...
