Bruschi, Bourque Back
"The man is back in town, so don't you mess around" - AC/DC's T.N.T...That was the song that popped into UB's head when he heard that it was official, Teddy Bruschi was returning to play this season with the New England Patriots. Bruschi has been out since suffering a mild stroke the week after the 2005 Pro Bowl.
Concerns that this was another Reggie Lewis situation should have been quelled as Bruschi has seen numerous doctors who have all cleared him to play. As you may recall, in the Lewis situation, they searched forever to find a doctor who would clear Reggie, after numerous doctors would not clear him. Reggie collapsed and died during practice after returning.
Teddy said he was not returning because the team is struggling (3-3) but because he was told by doctors that there would be no greater risk of stroke from playing football. Teddy says he got the okay from his wife and family and will be practicing with the team this week. It is not known when he will play. The Patriots next game is on October 30th, home against the Buffalo Bills.
"T.N.T, I'm dynamite, T.N.T, and I'll win the fight! T.N.T, I'm a power load, T.N.T, WATCH ME EXPLODE!!!'
In other news Fox 25 is reporting that Boston Bruins hall of famer Raymond Bourque may be returning to the Bruins as an assistant coach. WFXT says the Bruins have confirmed they are in talks with the former defenseman about a coaching role, but no official announcements have been made.
Will Ray bring his buddy Stanley? Wait and see...
