Loretta believe it: Sox a walk off on Patriots Day

The annual Patriots Day game looked like it was going to be a disappointing loss Monday, with two outs in the bottom of the 9th the Red Sox were two batters away from a seeing Big Papi David Ortiz as Kevin Youkilis strode to the plate. Youkilis beat out an infield single, bringing new Sox 2nd baseman Mark Loretta up, and hopes of seeing Ortiz if Loretta could just get on. Instead he decided to end the game with a blast into the monster seats for the 2 run home run and 7-6 win.

Loretta was quick to call the hit the biggest in his career after the game, adding that it was the 1st walk off home run for him on any level of baseball. It was also his 1st home run as a member of the Red Sox. The game winner came after Seattle Mariners reliever "Everyday" Eddie Guardado struck out the first two batters. A half inning earlier Loretta made a terrific diving stop on a ground ball that actually allowed the go-ahead run to score.

Ortiz kept the Sox in it with 2 home runs and nearly had a 3rd, but the cool weather helped keep it in the ball park.

Former Sox centerfielder "Crazy" Carl Everett gave Seattle the lead in the 6th with a 2 run home run...

Loretta goes nuts after his home run...UB was doing the same thing in his living room...

Run Youki, RUN!!!
