Going, Going, Gomes: Sox fail to sweep

The Red Sox have a nice tradition of crushing the Devil Rays everytime they come to Fenway Park, but Thursday night the Rays improved to 4 wins in their last 24 games in Boston, defeating the Sox 5-1.

The D-Rays Johnny Gomes hit two home runs, which was plenty of offense against the Sox bats that were frozen by Curt Schilling's favorite pitcher Scott Kazmir.

"Is that...Kazmir!?"

22-year-old Kazmir, who was a problem for the Sox last year had another good outing going 5 2/3 IP giving in up only 4 hits and striking out 7. It is amazing to your Uncle Buck that even with the over 50% new lineup for the Sox they still struggle against Kazmir and Toronto's Ted Lilly.

Kazmir improved to 3-1 with a 2.64 ERA in eight starts against the Sox and helped Tampa Bay.

Once again the tough luck loser, Tim Wakefield set down the first 10 batters he faced until walking Jorge Cantu with one out in the fourth inning on four pitches. Through six innings, Tampa Bay was only 1 for 19 off the knuckleballer. Wake gave up an unearned run on a passed ball that came on a called strike. The passed ball gave Bard six in four starts, or as many as Doug Mirabelli had all of last season.

The Sox bats continue to struggle, especially Manny Ramirez, who did have a single, but is batting only .259 with 0 Home Runs. Above Ortiz gives Manny a "Stone Cold Stunner" to try and get him out of the funk...

Well since the game sucked you can enjoy this episode of Seinfeld that includes the maid you saw above and George's proplems with Kazmir (aka cashmere):
