Sox right against Wong

It was the Red Sox in a laugher Monday night as they beat up on Chien-Ming Wang and beat the Yankoffs 9-5 in the first of three against the beatup Bronx bums. The Sox got plenty of offense from Big Papi David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez who had 6 RBI...

Coming into the series the big story was the recent poor play of the aging veteran pitchers Curt Schilling and Randy Johnson and would either be able to turn it up a notch against their arch rivals. For Schilling, at least, the answer was yes. Curt, who got career win 199, went eight-innings giving up five hits and only one-run to the admittedly depleted Yankoff lineup. He had a rough 4th inning, however, and continued to struggle with the high fastball after getting batters to an 0-2 count. Your Uncle Buck would suggest he takes Gerry Callahan's advise to throw a split in the dirt on 0-2 from now on...

There was some concern about the performance of Keith Foulke. The former closer was staked to a 9-1 lead in the 9th and gave up 4 runs...UB can only hope it was a case of being asked to throw strikes and the Yankoffs having good at-bats...

The biggest chuckle of the night came when Double Play-Rod contributed with a two run homer in the 9th inning. After a performance Sunday where he left 8 runners on base in a one run loss to the Mets, it was great to see A-Fraud break out with the two run shot...when they were down 8...Of course it lead to these headlines:
