Great Herm Edwards Quotes

With New York Jets head coach Herm Edwards leaving the team to become the top man with the Kansas City Chiefs, your Uncle Buck can't help but look back at some of the comment Herm made during his stint in New Jersey. Now no one should ever confuse Herm with Vince Lombardi, but the guy was very into pumping up his players and giving the media great sound bites. Here are some of the best:

If you look at camp and really study it, you'll know that it's a different camp for Curtis Martin than it was last year, ... He's had less this year compared to last year. The numbers are very different. These are things you don't consider that I do consider. That's why I'm the head coach and you do what you do.

We have to protect the quarterback, ... We haven't done that and we need to do that.

They said 2-5 teams don't make the playoffs, either, but we did it.

It's not the hardest, but it's getting close.

You do what's best for your team, ... throw passes and get (the quarterback) killed. Are you kidding me? For what? That's ridiculous.

It would've been a good win for all of us, because we could use one of those right now.

(After his FG kicker missed the game winner in the 2004 playoffs against Pittsburgh) He probably didn't get all he could on that kick.

Ty Law, all of a sudden, is going to start. Is he in shape to go 77 plays? I don't know that, ... How many plays can John Abraham play? I don't know that. . . . I don't know if they're concerns, but I haven't seen it live.

That's probably the worst thing that can happen to a kicker, ... He lived through it.

You play to win the game...hello!?

"Did you just say you want to kiss me?"
